Continuous Improvement Culture Item has established quarterly and annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for its core and key support processes. In addition to monthly and quarterly reviews to ensure that the company is performing as intended, these KPIs are evaluated annually to establish ever-higher performance levels for the company.
In addition, Item undertakes extensive process improvement activities. In 2003, Item was working with the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to model several of its key production processes, to establish current levels of productivity, and to develop programs to achieve rapid and lasting gains in productivity. Finally, as a learning organization, Item strongly believes that its primary means of achieving continuous and enduring improvements in its processes and culture is by improving the skills and capabilities of its people. Each employee receives more than 50 hours of training per year. Each employee and managerˇ¦s job description is reviewed annually to establish training needs for the next year. These training requirements are rolled up into a company-wide training plan, which is integrated into Itemˇ¦s annual budget exercise. |
