A particular advantage of Item's MRP is that it is web-based. Traditional MRP/ERP systems are local applications which are not flexible to connect and share. To meet the problems posed by the global marketplace, e.g., time differences and language difficulties, Item has adopted a web-based MRP. A user may access the MRP from anywhere in the world, instantly determining the status of an order. This integrated software program runs off of a single database, so that the various departments can more easily share information and communicate with each other. To prevent unauthorized access, Item has implemented a state-of-the-art security system, one that is continuously reviewed to ensure its effectiveness.
